USPA NEWS - AP Farmers' Union Coordination Committee Calls For Statewide Agitation

AP Farmers' Union Coordination Committee convener Vadde Shobhanadhishwar Rao has urged the BJP-led central government to immediately withdraw the newly introduced Market Act, alleging it favours corporate interests over farmers' welfare. Addressing a press conference at Gandhinagar Press Club on Tuesday, he called for protests across district centers on the 23 and urged farmers to burn Xerox copies of the controversial act in protest.

Key Demands For Farmer Welfare

The farmers' unions vowed to intensify their struggle for the implementation of the C2+50 Support Price Act, a Loan Waiver Act to relieve farmer debts, and laws ensuring pensions for farmers, tenant farmers, and agricultural workers. They emphasized that the Modi government’s failure to fulfill previous promises has worsened the plight of farmers.
Plight Of Farmers Under Anti-Farmer Policies
Highlighting the challenges faced by farmers, Rao criticized the Digital Agricultural Mission, New Cooperative Act, and the New Market Act, claiming they are rooted in the policies of repealed farm laws. He accused the central government of ignoring farmers' demands while pursuing policies that benefit corporations.

He further condemned the recent violent crackdown on farmer leaders at the Shambhu border near Delhi, warning the government against neglecting the health and safety of Jagjit Singh Dallewal, leader of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM). "The central government must engage in meaningful discussions with SKM leaders and release all arrested farmers unconditionally," he demanded.
Leadership Condemns Government Policies
The press conference was attended by prominent farmer union leaders, including Y Kesava Rao (APRS), KVV Prasad (AP Farmers' Union), Dr. Kolla Rajamohan (Nallamada Farmers' Union), Y Krishnaiah (APRS), D Harinath (AIKM), Mareedu Prasad Babu (Kisan Sangatan), Marreddy Venkata Reddy (AIKF), U Ganiraju (AIKMS), M Ramakrishna (IFTU), Jonna Sivashankara Rao (APRS).

District leaders Malnidi Yalamanda Rao (AP Rythu Sangham), P Anjaneyulu (APRS), and Kasani Ganesh Babu (AIKF) were also present at the meeting.

The leaders unanimously condemned the central government's approach towards farmers, pledging to escalate protests until their demands are met.
